Reimagining research with Proxemis
We recently announced the launch of Proxemis, our exciting new joint venture with the University of Oxford to offer an end-to-end clinical trial solution, specialising in primary care.
Combining the world-renowned expertise of the University of Oxford's Department of Primary Care, with the software, clinical reach and data management capabilities of EMIS, Proxemis is reimagining research to support healthier lives with a unique tailored experience for clinical trial delivery.
By focusing particularly on clinical trials that are suited to be conducted in primary care settings, Proxemis aims to make it easier for both patients and clinicians to participate in research and help find better treatments for long-term conditions.

Smart Practice: Eliminating unnecessary GP appointments with a smarter digital front door
Patients with musculoskeletal (MSK) issues are typically referred to physiotherapists by GPs. This takes up valuable GPs’ time, delays MSK patients getting the attention they need and risks the health of other patients waiting to see GPs.
Our partner, Rapid Health, demonstrates how their product Smart Direct Booking - through integration with EMIS Web - helps patients at North West Surrey Integrated Care Services (NICS) manage their own health navigation and appointment booking without needing practice staff intervention. By putting the patient in control, NICS saves valuable clinical time and offers an improved patient journey for their 350,000 patients.

Product updates
EMIS Mobile
EMIS Mobile Android version 6.5 was released this month introducing new functionality such as Edit Consultations as well as some fixes for known problems and other minor usability enhancements.
GP Connect Send Document
GP Connect Send Document will be rolled out to practices in batches throughout May, starting on the 17th May. Please check the Organisation Configuration manager screen in EMIS Web to see if your practice is ready for you to activate.
GP Connect Send Document functionality supports joined up collaborative working by sending a PDF consultation summary back to the patient’s registered GP Practice Workflow for instances where a consultation has been recorded elsewhere.
This is a national programme run by NHSE using the MESH Lookup service. Senders can send messages back to a patient’s registered GP anywhere within England, therefore some out of area messages will be likely.
If your practice wishes to stop receiving the messages, you should liaise with NHSE GP Connect team in the first instance or email gpconnect@nhs.net.
Practice Wi-Fi – our next generation solution
As the UK progresses with the switch from the existing copper line analogue network to broadband technology by 2025, our next generation Practice Wi-Fi makes use of the latest Openreach fibre network for a futureproof and reliable solution. As it supports Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) and Single Order Generic Ethernet Access (SoGEA), it covers all practice requirements.
For customers who already have an existing PSTN Practice Wi-Fi solution, we will manage the transition seamlessly alongside BT from order to installation. A new fibre line will be installed in addition to your existing line, along with any required hardware. This means a seamless transition with minimal interruption of service.
